Douglas Katich is Partner and Chairman of Intellectual Property Protection and Complex Commercial Litigation Department . Mr. Katich's litigation practice is concentrated in the areas of complex commercial litigation in matters of business tort, patent, trademark, copyright, unfair competition and trade secret cases.
Mr. Katich has vast experience prosecuting U.S. federal trademarks and negotiating and drafting complex license agreements in the field of entertainment and for a wide range of technologies including: technology patents, application service providers, software, website development and trademarks. He has been representing clients with regard to their intellectual property needs for his entire legal career and has been an international lecturer on topics relating to intellectual property licensing and litigation.
Mr. Katich received his Bachelor of Arts in History from DePauw University and his Juris Doctorate from Valparaiso University School of Law. He was a Councilman for the Borough of Fair Haven, NJ (2004 to 2006) and was a former member Fair Haven Zoning Board of Adjustments (2001 to 2004). Mr. Katich is admitted to practice law in New Jersey, Illinois and the U.S. District Court, District of New Jersey. He is a member of the American, Monmouth, New Jersey, Illinois and Chicago Bar Associations and is a Founding Trustee of the Hall Institute of Public Policy - New Jersey (2004 - present). Mr. Katich has over 15 years experience litigating complex commercial disputes including jury trials, bench trials and arbitrations. He has represented major companies including JP Morgan, Chase, Wouters Kluwer, Inc., GFI Group, Clinton Group, Jersey Partners, Inc., as well as small and mid size businesses such as Access International and PEM Systems. Many of Mr. Katich's litigations have been reported on in national and international press, including The London Daily Telegraph, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and The USA Today.
