The Family Law Department
The Family Law Department of Lomurro, Davison, Eastman & Munoz is one of the largest in the Central New Jersey area. All the family law attorneys are well-known and well-respected by judges as well as other lawyers throughout New Jersey.
The issues that the Family Law Department resolves on a regular basis include divorce, child custody, parenting time, alimony, domestic violence, grandparents’ rights, child support, property distribution, matrimonial settlement agreements, and Division of Youth and Family Services matters.
Family law is among the most personal and difficult in the practice, and it requires the daily attention of the staff whether it is the attorney responsible for the case, an associate attorney, a paralegal, or a secretary. There is always a department member available to provide assistance in the event of an emergency.
Family Law Department Accomplishments
The attorneys in the Family Law Department have achieved unique success in this specialty. These attorneys have been involved in cases that have resulted in published decisions in areas such as interstate custody disputes, alimony, child support, child relocation, interstate child support, and jurisdiction matters.
The family law attorneys regularly receive appointments by judges to serve the judiciary as guardians, attorneys for children in custody disputes, regular and "blue ribbon" Early Settlement Panelists in Monmouth, Middlesex, and Ocean Counties of New Jersey, special committees, etc. These successes are indicative of the commitment the firm has made to assist their clients at this difficult time in their lives with highly professional, knowledgeable and respected legal assistance.
Additionally, Stephen C. Carton, Esq. has specialized in family law cases for over 35 years. Bettina Munson, Esq. and Andrea White O'Brien have been designated by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as Certified Matrimonial Law Attorneys. This designation is achieved by individuals who have had extensive experience in trial work, dedication in continuing legal education, peer reviews, and passed a written test. Ms. O'Brien is also qualified pursuant to R. 1:40 to mediate family law cases.
All of the family law attorneys lecture and moderate programs to other matrimonial attorneys. They are also active in the Family Law Sections of the Local Bar Associations. Outside attorneys look to the firm for advice in difficult cases and will often refer such cases to the firm for representation.
