PHILIP AUERBACH is a member of the Firm's Personal Injury Department. Mr. Auerbach is certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Civil Trial Attorney. He was one of the first lawyers in the state to be acknowledged as a Certified Civil Trial Attorney. Over the years he has won numerous awards for trial excellence. He has tried to conclusion over 50 criminal cases, including 9 murder cases. Mr. Auerbach has handled over 1,000 civil litigation cases leading to settlement and/or trial. Of these cases, he has won more than 15 cases by way of verdict or settlement of $1,000,000 or more.

Mr. Auerbach has appeared before the Appellate Court and the Supreme Court of New Jersey in more than 25 cases. Some of his landmark New Jersey decisions are Pierson v. Frederickson, one of the first cases in the United States permitting a lay witness to testify as speed from sound; Bennett v. T & F Distributing, the first case in the State of New Jersey to discuss negligent hiring; Blessing v. Shriver, which established the law for loaned employees; and McGowan v. Borough of Eatontown, the leading case at the time of its decision under the Public Entity statutes of the State of New Jersey.

Mr. Auerbach has been a professor at Rutgers Law School for many years. He has taught trial techniques nationally for well over 20 years as well. He was selected by the Judges of Monmouth County to start the Inn of Courts program in the County.

Mr. Auerbach has written various articles on trial techniques. He is the author of the books called Try It, and Try It Again, and Try It: With Friends, published by the Institute for Continuing Legal Education and was at one time required reading for lawyers prior to admission to the bar. He has written a chapter on trial techniques for the New Jersey Practice Series.

He has received the trial advocacy award given by the Trial Attorneys of New Jersey and received the award for teaching skills given by the Institute for Continuing Legal Education. He was selected by the National Law Journal as one of the top ten civil trial lawyers in the State of New Jersey. He has been regularly listed as a "Super Lawyer" by Super Lawyers and Law & Politics Magazine**. He was an invited guest speaker at the Alabama Bar Association and he taught at the University of New Mexico, University of Michigan and University of Mississippi. He also teaches regularly at the Willamette Law School in Salem, Oregon. Mr. Auerbach is a member of the Monmouth Bar, New Jersey State Bar and American Bar Associations.

He is also a member of the Trial Attorneys of New Jersey which he was President in 1970 and Chairman of the Board in 1971. Mr. Auerbach received the Professional Lawyer of the Year Award from the New Jersey State Bar Association and the Trial Attorneys of New Jersey.

Mr. Auerbach has been married to his wife, Cynthia, for 47 years and they have 3 children and 9 grandchildren.
