Biography
Richard Galex has distinguished himself as one of the leading personal injury attorneys in New Jersey. He specializes in the areas of medical malpractice, personal injury and product defect litigation, including consumer fraud, and consumer class action litigation. He was certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Civil Trial Attorney in 1985, and has been continuously recertified thereafter. He has recovered over $60,000,000 for asbestos victims throughout New Jersey and internationally.
Mr. Galex is a nationally recognized authority on tort law who has served as a contributor to Smart Money Magazine, has appeared on the CBS Evening News and has been quoted by the BBC and newspapers throughout Europe. He is a speaker at programs designed to educate lawyers in the field of pharmaceutical litigation and medical malpractice.
Many of Mr. Galex’s landmark cases are continuously relied upon by the courts on issues involving the statute of limitations, direct to consumer advertising, defective medical devices, patient’s rights, workers compensation and toxic exposure. His arguments before the New Jersey Supreme Court have advanced the rights of victims of catastrophic injuries, birth injuries, construction accidents and toxic exposure.

Mr. Galex changed the law in New Jersey with respect to direct to consumer advertising. His advocacy resulted in a landmark decision entitled Perez v. Wyeth-Ayerst, where the highest court in New Jersey recognized that a patient who is influenced to request medications based upon television and magazine advertising is entitled to be warned by the drug company of the risks of use of the drug and the learned intermediary rule does not apply.
